Pelvic Floor Therapy for Pregnancy and Postpartum
Pregnancy and postpartum are two of the most significant things your body will ever go through, and yet most women navigate them with very little support for their pelvic floor. Whether you're managing pain during pregnancy, preparing for birth, or rebuilding after delivery, we meet you exactly where you are and stay with you until you feel like yourself again.
Pelvic Floor Therapy During Pregnancy
Pregnancy changes everything about how your body moves, loads, and functions. Your pelvic floor is at the center of it – literally.
Left unaddressed, the aches, pains, and dysfunctions that show up during pregnancy often carry into postpartum recovery and beyond. Starting pelvic floor therapy during pregnancy means you're building a stronger foundation for birth and setting yourself up for a smoother recovery on the other side.
Conditions and Situations We Treat:
Pelvic girdle pain and SI joint dysfunction
Pelvic pressure and heaviness
Urinary leakage or urgency during pregnancy
Safe exercise & weightlifting techniques during pregnancy
Low back & hip pain during pregnancy
Rib and upper back discomfort
Round ligament pain
Preparing the pelvic floor for labor & delivery
Diastasis Recti & Abdominal Recovery
We assess how your whole body is adapting to pregnancy, address areas of tension or weakness, and give you practical tools to manage discomfort at home between sessions.
Birth Prep
Prepare yourself for a range of scenarios and positions so you can respond to what your body needs in the moment, rather than what’s convenient for the room.
Birth preparation at Soulshine goes beyond breathing exercises. We work on functional positions for labor and delivery, perineal preparation to reduce the risk of tearing, and building the awareness and confidence to advocate for yourself in the room.
What birth prep includes:
Pelvic floor assessment and preparation for delivery
Functional labor and pushing positions
Perineal massage technique and tissue preparation
Breathing and pressure management strategies
Partner education — what they can do to support you
Birth plan review and advocacy preparation
Postpartum Recovery
Postpartum pelvic floor therapy meets you where you are: whether you're two weeks out, two months out, or two years postpartum and still dealing with something that never quite resolved.
We address the full picture of postpartum recovery – not just the pelvic floor, but core function, scar tissue, strength, and the return to movement and exercise you actually want to do. And yes, you can always bring the baby.
Vaginal Delivery Recovery
Perineal tearing and scar tissue management

Your body just did something remarkable. It deserves real support in recovery, not just a six-week clearance and a "you're good to go."
What to Expect
-
There's no wrong time to start — but earlier is generally better. Many patients come in during the first or second trimester to address early discomfort and build a foundation for birth. If you're already in your third trimester, it's not too late. We'll work with wherever you are.
-
Yes. Pelvic floor therapy is safe throughout pregnancy and is recommended by most OBs and midwives. We adjust our assessment and treatment approach based on your trimester and comfort level. Internal work is always optional and never required.
-
You can come in around 3–4 weeks postpartum, though we're happy to see you sooner if you have specific concerns, or later if you're not ready yet. There's no single right timeline — we'll meet you wherever you are.
-
Absolutely. C-section recovery is a significant part of what we do postpartum. Scar mobilization, abdominal reconnection, and pelvic floor rehabilitation are all important after a cesarean — and often get overlooked entirely in standard postpartum care.
-
It's never too late. We regularly see patients who are one, two, or even several years postpartum and still dealing with symptoms that were never properly addressed. Your body is adaptable at every stage, and treatment is effective long after delivery.
